Social Cognitive Theory And The Theory Of Control, Job...

Introduction Scholars, researchers, and academics described theory as limited and useless in the field of business (Wacker, 1998); however, virtue of â€Å"good† theory and its applications to research starts with defining theory. This paper will discuss the importance, the definition, the types of theory, comparison/contrast views of theory, and research contributions to theory as it relates to furloughed contractors work locus of control (WLOC), job satisfaction, and performance. This paper will also address a theory that adds to the related research topic and analyze two areas of controversial questions related to the chosen theory. Importance of theory to WLOC, Job Satisfaction, and Performance The concepts of locus of control (LOC) are parallel to work locus of control (WLOC), which is globally applied across situation and life domain (Tong Wang, 2012). LOC is drawn from social cognitive theory, which targets interactions between the individuals’ environment and behaviors (Tong Wang, 2012). Tong and Wang (2012) asserted that internal LOC represent individuals behaviors or personal attributes as reward contingency and external LOC represent individuals’ outcome attributes to extrinsic rewards. Tong and Wang (2012) went so far to point out that on a theoretical-based or measurement purpose, WLOC is a better predicator on work-related situations than the general LOC. WLOC combines work-related constructs such as (a) job satisfaction, (b) organizational commitment,Show MoreRelatedRelational Theory Of Current Interest1385 Words   |  6 PagesA Theory of Current Interest Relational theory of furlough correlates theoretical constructs of WLOC, job satisfaction, and performance as it relates to work productivity for furloughed contractors. However, relational theory of furlough is more adequately connected to my current interest.
